My Investing
As I mention in my About page, I manage my own investments as well as a few family member or friend’s portfolios. I have also recently started a registered investment advisory firm, Middle Coast Investing.
I’m a big believer in ‘skin in the game’ in investing. As someone talking about the markets, I should also talk about what I’m buying and selling. It’s a way to put my credibility on the line. I also think it helps to teach by showing, not just telling. And, it’s always a good idea for investors to keep a journal or log of their investing, so they can remember their thought process and assess whether they were right or wrong after the fact, objectively.
So while lessons and courses will themselves feature examples from my investing, I also plan to post occasional write-ups about the market and my portfolio. I will at least write quarterly letters about my portfolio, and may share other thoughts when I have something useful to say.
Disclaimers and notes
I will mention my portfolio performance. Past performance says nothing about future results. I calculate my performance myself, so it’s prone to manual error. If I catch an error, I’ll fix it and announce the error. I specifically calculate my performance to adjust for how the portfolios deposit or withdraw cash by assuming they withdrew/deposited at the beginning of the quarter. I don’t currently manage money professionally. If I ever were to do so, this page would undoubtedly be updated for more official language.
Another disclaimer: none of what I post in this section is investment advice. I am sharing in case the thought process is useful. Any investing decisions based on things posted here should be made at your own risk and after your own due diligence or discussions with a financial advisor.
Future investment letters will be available here.
